Chef Giovanni Longo, born in Crotone, Italy, migrated to the United States from Calabria in 1996 to pursue his culinary aspirations. His journey began with studies at a culinary school in Calabria, where he honed his skills and developed a deep appreciation for the art of Italian cooking. Upon arriving in the United States, Giovanni's dedication led him to work alongside his brother at Ristorante “Il Faro” in Medford Square, where he served as the executive chef for a decade, from 1996 to 2006. During his tenure, he brought the flavors of Italy to the forefront, captivating diners with his authentic Calabrian cuisine. In 2006, Giovanni took a significant step in his career by opening his own restaurant in Malden, Massachusetts, named after his daughter, Serena. At Serena's, he continued to showcase the incredible tastes of Calabria, delighting patrons in Maplewood Square with his culinary creations. Alongside his dedicated team, Giovanni ensured excellent customer service and the satisfaction of every diner. His commitment to the culinary arts did not go unnoticed, as he received numerous awards and garnered the respect and admiration of many.
